If you live miles away from the coast as I do you really just need to be able to surf whatever slop your served when you get there. The solution to this is simply to ride boards as thick as fire doors with as much bouyancy as a swollen corpse.
Getting said boards into a van is another matter so making adequate space to store these planks is an important part of the design. These boards aren’t quite mini-mals but they’re nearly there. 6’3 long and 2.3′ thick and there’s room for 2 fins down and a couple of thrusters on top. So space for 4 boards altogether plus a wet area for suits and towels on the left.
